How to Avoid “404 Page Not Found”

We see it all the time. A vendor disconnects a client’s planned giving website without advice to deal with the consequences which may impact the credibility of your organization. The pages then often lead to a “404 Not Found,” or worse, the vendor’s home page.

Easy Steps to Avoid the “404”:

Do an inventory: Where have you advertised your planned giving website? What back-links do you have? Make sure to eliminate/update them all.

  • Postcards
  • Brochures
  • Display Ads
  • Signature Lines
  • Newsletters

  • Magazines
  • Public Ads
  • Google Ads
  • All social media
  • Correspondence with donors

Note: If you are not engaged in utilizing the above marketing activities, not only are you losing traffic to your website, but losing out on major funding.

Erase it from Google. This will happen over time, but your IT can take immediate steps if it is critical.

Have us forward your URL for one year. Cost: $195. Thereafter, $25 per year.
